AARSA Midwest, Inc. is an autonomous not-for-profit corporation, organized under the laws of the State of Illinois. “AARSA” is an acronym for American Association of Russian-Speaking Attorneys. AARSA Midwest is affiliated with AARSA, Inc. the national association of Russian-speaking attorneys, headquartered in New York.
AARSA Midwest’s aims are to bring together attorneys and law students working and studying in the Midwestern United States who either speak Russian (with varying abilities), or who may not speak Russian, but to whom issues affecting our Russian-speaking community are important. AARSA Midwest aims to promote us (attorneys) among our non-Russian speaking peers and the ever-increasing pool of potential Russian-speaking clients, to promote legal education among Russian-speaking youth and to aid the Russian-speaking community in its understanding of its legal rights, duties and responsibilities.
The Russian-speaking community is consistently growing, both in quantity and in sophistication. Increasingly, we are assuming higher positions, with decision-making power, in major corporations and in various governmental entities. We, the Russian-speaking community of lawyers, should be ready to step up to the task of solving and resolving our communities’ legal matters, big and small. Russian-speaking clients need to know that when they retain a Russian-speaking attorney, they are retaining not just the best "Russian lawyer," but the best lawyer, period.
Together we can accomplish all of this, and in many different ways, and in the course of doing so, meet and get to know each other as well.
